A NEW Sketchy Cardspiration #5 - My Heart Smiles Just Thinking of You

Happy 2019 crafty friends!

I know we're already a week into the new year, but I've been spending the last week with my boys. They're going back to school today after a VERY long holiday break! LOL

I have a new card and a NEW sketch to share today!

I think I had Valentine's Day on the mind when I created this one or I just love hearts!

I love when the design paper just works so well together. One of the frustrating parts with layered cards is finding match DP!

For my card, I used an ADORABLE Magnolia stamp that I just LOVE so much that I've used it several times! LOL. It's called "Tilda with Heart Balloons".

The sentiment is one of my sets added to the shop last year and can be found HERE!

I actually colored up this stamp last year when I got back into card making and only now created a card with it. haha... I was still refreshing my Copic skills at the time...I can definitely tell how much my skin coloring has improved over the year, especially with Alyce Keegan's help! I've been taking her coloring classes over at Kit and Clowder.

Some more up close pics...

Merry Christmas 2018!!

Happy, Happy Christmas crafty friends!!

We're off to the coast today to visit and spend Christmas day with family. We did our own Christmas last night because hubs don't have very much home time.

Hopefully everyone is having a wonderful day, staying warm and spending lots of time with family and loved ones.

I'm sharing my LAST Christmas cards for the year...whew! That was a LOT of cards. I haven't made handmade Christmas cards or gifts for family and friends in over 2 years...I forgot just how long it takes. Hopefully I'll be more organized next year! lol

I created 12 of these in total, in 6 different distress ink color combos! And again I used Hero Art gold embossing powder for the stamping and the edges. I then splattered some gold Perfect Pearls all over both panels of each card. I also used some pretty clear sequins from Hero Arts with a some Glossy Accents on top.

I think this one is my FAV color combo!

Distress Ink Color Combo: Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves and Picked Raspberry.

The blue is my second favorite I think...

Distress Ink Color Combo: Faded Jeans, Broken China and Tumbled Glass.

This rich red combo is actually the first ones I started with...

Distress Ink Color Combo: Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick and Wild Honey.

Green combo...

Distress Ink Color Combo: Mowed Lawn, Shabby Shutters and Antique Linen.

I was trying to achieve a night sky background with this combo...

Distress Ink Color Combo: Black Soot, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean.

And of course, I had to have a purple....only because it's my favorite color! lol

Distress Ink Color Combo: Seedless Preserves, Milled Lavender and Spun Sugar.

Some closeups....

Some more closeups...

And the insides...

a better closeup...

I also embossed all the envelopes using some more of the elements from the same Recollections stamp set...

Make Your Season Bright! Happy Christmas Eve!

Hello crafty friends and Happy Christmas Eve!!

Hubs surprised us today by coming home off the road a day early...so we'll be doing our Christmas tonight since we have a 3 hr drive to see family tomorrow...not looking forward to traffic! lol

I'm back today with another Christmas card. This one was sent out to one of my aunts...I'm not telling who...you'll just have to wait and see which card you get! lol

I've been dabbling in CAS style cards. It was soooo hard not to want to add more layers. LOL. But since I was sending out 30 cards...I kinda wanted them to be lighter weight and not cost an arm and a leg to ship! LOL

I had fun playing with some shimmery gold Perfect Pearls that I splattered all over my card. Along with using some more of that beautiful Hero Arts gold embossing powder to the edges and to stamp the card itself.

I also used Time Holtz Distress inks on this card too...I just can't stop playing with my ink!

And a card is just not complete for me without dressing up the inside as well...

Close up of the super cute deer...I really LOVE this inexpensive stamp set!

Merry Christmas To You with MORE Poinsettias!

Hello crafty friends and Happy Holidays!

Anyone else get their Christmas cards done super late and mailed just in time?! Me too! LOL

Now that I got all my cards mailed out....all 30 of them!...I can share some of them I sent out. I made 30 cards in total for family and friends. And to keep myself motivated and from getting bored with the same card over and over, I tried to make different variations and styles.

For the next 3 days till Christmas, I'm going to be sharing with you some of the different styles and variations I created.

I love using and playing around with the Spellbinders Poinsettia dies so much on my last card that I had to use them again on some more simpler cards.

I also added some more foliage die cuts from Tim Holtz. I colored the flowers and leaves with my Copics and then added some Wink of Stella shimmer to them all!

I absolutely LOVE the super pretty gold embossing powder that I got in the My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts. I'm going to have to get me some more, because I loved it so much I used it on ALL my Christmas cards and now I'm out. LOL

I used Tim Holtz Ditress Inks on the backgrounds with a decorative stencil that I thought most closely resembled a snowflake. And the pics don't capture the shimmer, but I used some more of that gold Wendy Vecchi Shimmer Spray on the backgrounds too.

The Inside...

After I finished the first card with the Tim Holtz leaf die cuts, I remembered I had some realistic looking leaves stashed away with all my paper flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. I'm not sure which version I like better, but after asking my son, he said the second version looked better because the leaves looked more true to nature and the actual Poinsettia plant.

I can't decide, I like both. lol

Mistletoe Kisses and Christmas Wishes / NEW Sketchy Cardspiration #4!

Hello crafty friends!
Hope everyone's had a chance to enjoy their holiday shopping and getting excited to gather with family and friends for the holidays! This is my favorite time of the year because I have an excuse to spoil our boys without feeling guilty...lol. But not only that, it's about the only time of the year our family and friends tend to get together.

Anyhooooo...please tell me I'm not the only one who's STILL working on their Christmas cards?! I've been creating cards daily and still seem to never be done with my list of who I want to send them to. lol.

I've been experimenting with CAS style cards...which, I admit, I'm not very good at. But I just love how fun and less time consuming they are to make, especially for this time of year.

Since I'll be waiting for everyone to receive those cards, I won't be sharing them until later in the month. But for today, I'll be sharing a card that after I finished it, I just couldn't figure out who I wanted to send it to...so it may be another hoarded card that I love. LOL

And my card today is inspired by my newest card sketch I designed! For those interested in the sketch, it will be down at the bottom of this post.

I just LOVE how this card turned out! I was worried the design I had in my head wouldn't achieve the dimensional look I was going for with the supplies I used.

The only thing I'm bummed about is I wasn't able to capture with my camera the distress backgrounds I created behind the image and sentiment. The picture makes them look kinda washed out. They are super shimmery though! There is shimmer all over this card! LOL

The beautiful stamp I used is from Whimsy Stamps. It's called Under the Mistletoe by artist, Kirsten Winkelbaur. I've bought a few of her stamps already. I just love the uniqueness of her characters and the faces she gives them are so adorable. And as I was writing this up and looking up the link for the rubber cling stamp, it's on sale for only $2!

The sentiment I used is one of my own digital designs. It's called Swirly Christmas Phrases and can be found HERE. This is one of my first Christmas sentiment sets I ever created. It's nice to use some oldy, but goodies!

To pop up the image and give it a 3D look, I stamped the image several times, colored them with my Copics and fussy cut parts of the image and stacked them up in layers. I then went over the flowers with my clear Wink of Stella Brush. I'm addicted to this shimmer pen now!

I used my poinsettia Spellbinders dies for the flowers and Tim Holtz Holiday Greens dies for the leaves and branchy material, cut out all the layers, colored them my Copics, layered them up and also used the shimmer brush over these too.

Oh and I forgot to mention I added some gold heat embossing around the distress backgrounds and design paper. And I also used some new Wendy Vecchi Buttercup Mica spray all over the design papers. I received some different colors as a free gift with a Tim Holtz product order. I have to be honest, I'm not all that thrilled with the lack of my kind of shimmer this produces, but at least it was free. Love the way the embossing looks though and will be using this technique again!

For the bow, I used some shimmer green and transparent ribbon with the help of my Bow it All tool. The BEST cardmaking tool to own!

The bottom border is either from a Magnolia Doo-Hickey die or one of my many My Favorite Things Die-Namics dies...can't remember, but it is definitely an older one...probably retired. lol

And as always...I may have went a little over the top with finishing the inside. lol

You can see the distressed background a little better in this pic. For the snowflake look in the center, I used a paper stencil from Faber Castell. I told all my family that asked what I wanted for Christmas that I want some better stencils! LOL
