It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christms!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...with the snow we had the other day!!! Well it's not Christmas yet, but it is Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope everyone is getting stuffed! The boys have had a very very long weekend from school due to the the snow storm we had the other day! They closed the school down for 2 days and then they have the 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving. It doesn't actually feel like Thanksgiving for me today, because we aren't celebrating until Saturday, that is when all our family can all get together.

I took pictures from the other day of the snow and recorded it too! We are so surprised when we get snow here in Oregon, so it is very picture!

Here is view from the front of our house when it was coming down pretty hard...

And the view from the back...the river is frozen!

Sadly though there wasn't enough snow to stick so that the boys could play in it...they were sad about that.

Well have geart day everyone...I'll be back later today to post some cards from challenges I made...if I could ever get the pictures taken!

Gearing Up For Christmas Cards...Hopefully!

Yes I really really need to get on making my Christmas! It will be Thanksgiving next week! Wow this year has flown by so fast!

I actually did sit down yesterday and took a little time to color in some recent digi freebies that I got from PollyCraft Designs! And these freebies were perfect and just in time for Christmas cards...yay!!

Here are 2 of them that I had fun coloring yesterday...

Aren't these so adorable?! I'm so pleased there are sites out there that most kindly share their beautiful digi work!

And I think I'm getting a little better at the Gamsol technique...who needs Copics when you have!

Here are a couple pics I took of the Gamsol technique process...

And here is Santa before I added the highlights to the belt, buttons and glove with my white opaque gel pen from Ink Essentials...

I'm going to fill in Santa's beard, his fur on his coat and the ground with my puffy snow pen! And of course he will be sparkled with Stickles!

And the cute penguins...

I used silver at first for the girl penguin thinking it would make it look more feminine...then thought penguins aren't So I went back over it with the black. And it still turned out pretty the end it made her a little lighter. I'm thinking about adding some sparkle to the hearts with some stickles!

Now hopefully I get around to making the cards to add these adorable digi's to! I will of course share them on here when I do!

The colored pencils I use are from PrismaColor because the wax breaks down smoother in them when blended with the Gamsol.
For the Santa I used: Black, Crimson Red, Apple Green, Light Cerulean Blue, Canary Yellow, Silver, Gold, Light Peach and Parma Violet.

The Winter Penguins: Black, Silver, Light Cerulean Blue and Pink.

Halloween with the Boys! 2010

I know I'm a couple days late to show my cuties off, but I finally got around to uploading the pics from Halloween!! And I can't resist sharing my Spiderman, Venom and little Ninja (Snake Eyes) with everyone!

And no I didn't even tell them they had to pose like!

Preston went as Venom, Drake as Spirderman and of course the little one is Aiden! Poor little guy, the visor he was wearing was way to big for his little head, so we ended up taking it off during Trick-or-Treating. But he still had fun, they all had fun! We decided to go into a different area this year and it paid off, because they got loads of candy! So much candy they will never be able to eat it all, but that just means more for me and!

I will be posting the rest on Facebook for everyone to see!!

You'll Always Be My Knight In Shining Armor!

I wanted to share a card I made recently for my best friend. She wanted me to make her a birthday card for her boyfriend...he is in to the SCA medieval game stuff. So I not only had to challenge myself to make a card to suit a man, but one who was having a medieval themed birthday party!

At first I didn't even know where to began...because I didn't have any medieval stamps or any idea how I was going to make it look masculine. Masculine and me usually don't get! I started out by looking for digital stamps of knights and couldn't find any that she really liked, until I came across this adorable knight coloring image from BusyBeeKidsPrintables and it was FREE! I drew inspiration for the color palette from his crest.

Here is the card I came up with:

I wasn't too sure I liked it because the colors I used aren't really colors I would have chosen and aren't my favorite but she was very pleased with it, so that made me happy!!

Here are a couple more closeups...and I kinda went all out for her and completed it with a custom sticker seal and envelope! I absolutely love love the way the sticker seal turned out and think I will make some more!!

I also tried a new ruffled ribbon technique that I've never done before and I think it turned out really well and suits the card perfectly!

And of course I completed the inside!

And here is the envelope and sticker seal:

This is his crest I drew the color palette from:
This is the actual crest I attached to the card after I scaled it down to fit on top of the shield the knight is carrying.

And if you're interested in the image I used for the card, I got it here:

Oh and to give credit to the sketch...I found this awesome sight filled with great card sketches. So I used this one for my base inspiration:

PAPERS: Cobalt blue and yellow potpourri textured card stock, jet black and metallic silver card stock all from "DCWV" and plain white card stock for the base. Patterned floral paper is also from "DCWV".
IMAGE and SENTIMENT: The adorably image is a free coloring page image from BusyBeeKidsPrintables. The sentiment "You'll Always Be My Knight and Shining Armor" is my own computer generated text print out.
INK and COLOR: The image was colored in with PrismaColor Pencils and a Gamsol technique was used.
FEATURES: Machine stitching in and out, image is paper pieced and 3-D mounted and "Stickles" glitter glue was added for sparkle. The background was embossed with the "Fleur De Lis" embossing folder and Cuttlebug machine. The border was done with the castle border punch from "EK Succes". The sentiment was framed with the Labels set from "Spellbinders Nestabilities".
EMBELLISHMENT: Cobalt blue, smoky black and topaz faux rhinestones, Silver pearls, Metallic silver and jet black brads and bright cobalt blue satin ribbon.
