Sweet Blossoms

Good morning crafty friends!

It's been a slow uneventful week for me, especially since it has not stopped raining since the beginning of last week. It was a super soggy day on Monday Memorial Day as well. Hubs and the kids of course had a 3 day weekend. Since it was too wet to barbecue, we had a nice dinner inside and had a conversation with the kiddos on the true meaning of that day.

I did manage to complete another card though!

For my card, I used an awesome layout from Sunday Sketch and Stamp. I really had lots of fun with this layered sketch!

I drew inspiration for the colors from my newest DP stack from Recollections! I just love the paper sets they have out now, I want them all! lol

I used a super adorable stamp from Wee Stamps called Sweet Blossom. I had so much fun coloring her and her little friend! I bought mine in rubber stamp form from Whimsy Stamps but if you prefer digis, you can also get them directly from the Wee Stamps shop!

I had an extra beaded pin that I created for my last card and thought it matched perfectly with this one too! I also created a little glass image pebble for the bottom corner to show a bit more of the beautiful blossoms that come from the background DP.

No sentiment for me this time...I almost always have to add a sentiment. But I thought it looked perfect without one and I didn't want to take away form the gorgeous image!

The inside of the card....

Live Laugh Love

Hello crafty friends and bloggy buddies!

A week has gone by and I realized I hadn't posted anything! Truth be told I've been having a lazy week with the rainy weather here in Oregon and getting caught up on some Netflix shows. I started watching The Office (US) version, got hooked and found myself binge watching every A TV show has not made me laugh so hard in a very long time! Too bad the show ended with it's very last episode this month. Don't you hate when that happens? Get into a show only to find out, it's ending! lol.

Anyhoo, I came out of my couch potato coma, brushed off the popcorn and got the urge to finish this card I started last week!

I used this fabulous sketch from the Sketch N Stash Challenge, which I turned on it's side and inspiration for the wild color theme came from Stamp and Create's May challenge.

I wasn't too sure I was liking this color combo as I got started, but it started to grow on me as it all started to come together, lol.

I've had this super adorable stamp from Sugar Nellie for awhile now. I can't believe I never colored her up before! This stamp is part of the Home Grown Fairy Glen collection from Funky Kits.

Our Micheal's Craft Store had a huge sale a couple months ago around my birthday...hubs let me go on a little crafty shopping spree and I finally got myself some of these beautiful rhinestone flourishes! Since they were on sale, I was able to get a bunch! So I won't need to worry about using them sparingly!

The flowers are of course from my favorite online store, Wild Orchard Crafts. And I'm loving this pink lace ribbon!

I used my Magnolia Doohickey Vintage Tag die along with a beautiful sentiment from my newest Creative Thoughts collection of digi sentiments!

I just love this polka dot DP, that I kind covered up on the front, lol. So I thought it would make a cute personal note space inside the card!

Project For a Friend

Hello crafty friends!
Hope you all are having a great Friday night and getting ready for a very nice weekend!

I've been busy getting my oldest son ready for his camping trip with his boy scouts troops. He will be gone along with daddy for the the whole weekend. Kinda exciting because this is his very first camping trip! I stayed home with my other 2 boys so I can't wait till they get back to hear all the exciting things they got to do...I told hubs that he better take lots of pics too! lol.

Anyways, I don't have another card completed just yet but I forgot about a project I wanted to share with you all. A couple months ago while I was on my crafty break...I wasn't completely un-crafty. I worked on some CD holders for a very good friend of mine. She is an awesome photographer who takes amazing pics! She wanted something pretty or professional looking to place her customers CD copies in and asked me if that was something I would like to take on? And of course, me loving a challenge I made some for her!

These are what I came up with...

I just love the way these turned out! I hadn't used my embossing folders in so long and thought they would be perfect for what I had in mind along with a variety of my border punches! It was SOOOO hard though to keep it as simple as possible....I just had to add some

I really did enjoy working on these and may think about making some to put in my shop in the future. :)

This was actually a great way to use up a bunch of my paper scraps that have grown over the years! I have a HUGE bin of scraps because for some reason I just can't seem to throw even the tiniest bit of paper seems so wasteful, lol.

I admit, I got a little carried away and made her a bunch!

I even had fun designing some sticker labels and watermarks for her! Clicking on the image below will take you to the blog I designed for her a few years back...

Before I finish my post for the night, I want to give my photographer friend a great big shout out! She is based in in Georgetown TX. but travels and sets up shoots if needed in surrounding areas in TX. Her work is amazing!! She absolutely has the best portrait prices ever and even offers freebies frequently! So if you're in her area and in need of some updated portraits, please feel free to check out her business page!

Thinking Of You

Good morning crafty blog buddies!
How was your weekend and Mother's Day? I had a great weekend, ending Mother's Day night with a breakfast dinner which my hubs cooked up! Pancakes, fresh strawberries and all the fixins for a diet breaker! lol. It doesn't hurt to cheat every once in awhile right?

I meant to have something posted for you all yesterday but I was stuck in laundryville from a long weekend of not getting anything done, where chores were concerned anyways! I finally got through the mounds of laundry and had time to get my craft back on to finish this card I was working on!

For my card today, I used Sweet Sketch Wednesday's adorable little sketch.

For the colors, I drew inspiration from the beautiful DP from my collection of Recollections stacks!

And of course, the absolutely adorable image is from Mo's Digital Pencil. I've actually had this image in my collection for a long time...I think it was one of the first images I bought from Mo's beautiful collection. I just love her fairies!

I tried something a little different, if you will notice I've used watercolor paper. I'm not too sure I'm completely thrilled with the result? It's much more hard to blend and use the Copics on, but I do kinda like the soft feel it leaves as well as the nice texture. I may try it a few more times and see if it grows on me.

Here's a couple more views and closeups...

I made another one of those little glass bubble embellishments, love making those! And I also made a beaded pin...haven't made one of those in ages! And the sentiment is from my newest Fancy labels Occasions set! I changes the colors on this one to match the color tones of the card.

I added some more lace to the inside...I kinda covered it up on the front of the card, lol....

Before I close out today, I would like to share with you the little handmade gifts I received from my boys for Mother's Day. I just love them so much and I'm so proud, I have to show them!!

A flower pot filled with pens...yes those flowers are pens!! Isn't it the greatest?!!

And of course, a mother can never have enough macaroni noodle frames...except this one is a magnet too! Just love them both! :)~

From Small Beginnings Come Great Things

Afternoon my crafty friends!

Before I forget, I want to thank everyone who took the time to read through all of my first blog post coming back....I know it was really, really long and probably hard to get through, lol. And to those who took the time to leave such sweet and very supportive comments, sending HUGE hugs your way! Your words made me feel so much better and meant so much to me! And the only reason I'm thanking you in a blog post is because I still have not figured out how to get replies to go through directly to you when replying to a comment. I thought I had set it up right, but I guess not cause all the replies just keep getting sent to my email, lol.

Anyways, How is your Friday going so far? Mine is going great! Since Mother's day is this Sunday, I had some adorable little handmade surprises from my kiddos today when they got home from school. I love it when they do stuff like that, such treasured little keepsakes!

It's such a nice sunny day today in Oregon, I may take the boys down to the park and put our yardwork chores off until this weekend! There is this really beautiful park down in Springfield that I thought would be awesome to take pictures at because it has a huge open field next to it with lots of pretty scenery, not to mention the river runs right next to it! Hubs has the next 3 days off and plans to finish working on our cars but I'm hoping I can convince him in joining us. It would be so nice to be able to get some great updated pics of all of us!

But before I decide to run off today, I do have a little crafty something to share with all of you!

I have been working on some frames for the last couple weeks that I wanted to possibly create for my craft room. I searched through our local used stores here and found a bunch of really nice frames that worked perfect for my project. I was looking for mainly square frames, all wood and something deep enough that could possibly be made into a shadow box...wasn't sure. I went to painting them and then the best fun came when I started distressing them!

I've only got one completely done so far and I'm loving the way it turned out and can't wait to get the rest done! But for now, here is the first one....

I drew inspiration from Chelsea's beautiful sketch at CLP Sketch Challenge...but flipped the sketch to make it work for what I wanted to do.

I tried to take lots of pics to get a good angle of the whole frame...

A view from the other side...

The image of course is one of Mo's adorable digis from MosDigitalPencil! I've had her little baby fairy images on my wishlist for a really long time and finally bought all of them to add to my collection!
And I want to give credit to Alyce from KitandClowder and her amazing Copic technique tutorials on her YouTube channel HERE! I learned how to color in the lifelike clouds and grass from a couple of her videos. I'm no where near as talented as she is and this was only my first if you haven't already, I suggest you take a look at her fantastic blog!
Thank you Alyce! :)

The word art is from a set of motivational sentiments I made to go along with the crafty frames I have planned. You can find the set in my digi shop HERE. I also have a freebie from that set I shared on my blog yesterday!

The metal butterflies were actually charms I had in my bead stash and I just cut and filed the top loops off...made great embellishments! I made the glass pebble from clear fish rocks, an image I cut out from similar DP and a little Glossy Accents glue.

Here are a few more closeups...

I usually don't do a lot of distressing work, but I thought it suited the frame I distressed. Plus this was the first time I tried out that new Frantage technique that I've been seeing everywhere! I want to mention I watched an awesome tutorial on how to use the Frantage properly with clear instruction from the talented Tracy Payne from Crafteezee HERE on here blog!
Thank you Tracy! :)

Creative Digi Sentiment FREEBIE!

Ok, so after my long wordy and heavy post yesterday, I figured I would soften things up a bit by rewarding you all with a freebie!!

I know it's been a really long time but as I mentioned yesterday...besides being back in the craftroom, I'm back to playing around with sentiments again! I just love designing wordart, specially when it gives me an excuse to play around in my PS and AI software all day!

When I created this new set of sentiments I call "Creative Thoughts", I was really trying to call my crafty mojo out of hiding! Because this set is full of creative inspirational thoughts! I had an idea to create some pretty frames for my craftroom and needed some pretty thoughts to go along inside them! So I poured through my inspirational quotes and sayings book and got to work designing some sentiments with my favorites! This is only the first set of creative thoughts...I've done up some beautiful quotes too that I will share at a later time! But for now, here is the first set! I just had to play around with swirls and butterflies...who doesn't love butterflies, right?!

The whole set is listed in my sentiment shop can click HERE or on the image below! Or if you would like to "try before you buy"....continue below....

I will have some frames I created using this set to share with you and to possibly inspire you here in the next couple be sure to keep an eye out for that!

But in the is the promised matching freebies!

To download, just click on the image preview above or you can click HERE!

The files are uploaded in zipped format, so you will need a program like Winzip which you can download for free to extract them. If you have trouble, please leave me a comment and I will try to help you.

I really hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating them!
All I ask is that you give credit on whatever project you may use them on. And please do not share them or claim them as your own. You may sell handmade cards with the sentiments, but you do not have permission to sell the sentiment in their original format.

Until next time,

Hello!! MIA No More! A Non-Crafty Candid Me Post!

Hello all my crafty bloggy friends!
Did you miss me?....I missed me (well the creative, crafty mojo side of me!) LOL! And I definitely know, I sure missed all of YOU!

I guess I should start off by saying this isn't going to be one of my normal, static, crafty posts...that will come later, no worries. So keeping that in mind, if you're only interested in my crafty goodies or digi wordart, (that is completely fine because after all that's what my blog is usually about and I appreciate all of you!) today's post will be different. But if you would like to continue reading, you might as well grab another cuppa

I know I'm Facebook buddies with many of you all know how and where I've been.

But for those who aren't on my Facebook and don't know, I've been taking an extended crafty break, spending more time and just enjoying my family. I know I left you all off with me saying I wanted to start scrapping more, and getting into more digital stuff...well, yeah...that never really happened. I sat down many times wanting to scrap some of the awesome pics I was taking on a daily basis having fun with my kiddos...but realized I would rather just be spending more time with them, lol. So instead of sharing those pretty awesome "would-be" scrap layouts...I'll just share some pics instead......

This was most recently taken on Easter day and they were definitely mugging for the shot! lol!

We recently signed our boys up for the Boy Scouts not only because I think it will teach them great life skills, but they've been having trouble making friends since we moved to the new house we're in. Plus, my oldest has a social learning disability and the scouts were suggested to us to help him with that. It has already been a good learning experience for them both and they are having so much fun with it too!

The oldest is going onto the boys scouts, but in this pic he was still in cub scouts. This was actually their first we weren't sure how they were suppose to wear their neckerchiefs yet, lol.

Drake getting his Bobcat badge...

Preston, my oldest has volunteered for so many things to help out including the recent "MS Walk 2013" of which we are so proud of him for! Him and his troops helped raise over 25K I was told.

He was exhausted when he got home, lol!

Our youngest little guy, Aiden will be able to sign up this summer for tiger scouts, yay!

Also, since the beginning of the year I decided to start taking better care of myself, mentally and most of all physically. Probably some of you can relate, maybe not? I've been overweight most of my life and I decided it was just time to get this weight off, not only for myself and my back problems, but for my kids and husband too. So I started on a healthy kick to a new healthier me by eating better, drinking more water, exercising etc.

We live by a beautiful preserved wetland area, so I've been taking advantage of that and going on long walks with my littlest munchkin. He's in kindergarten and only goes 1/2 day, so it's been nice to be able to do this with him in the mornings!

Yes, he had found himself some little furry friends!

And of course I let him bring the little fellas home...only if for a bit!

And scooter rides are always included!

And since I'm being candid here, I was diagnosed with bipolar at an early age among other emotional disorders, which has been a mental battle that I have dealt with for a long time...part of the reason I craft to keep myself somewhat sane I guess. After five years of not seeking out a new physician because of relocating for hubs job, I have finally mustered up the courage and got myself back on track not only physically but emotionally too! I don't think anyone but my family knows about my disorder and only a couple of my closest friends and now you all. *Waiving my little flag here...don't be frightened, I'm still me....and for those that know me personally, light bulbs are probably going!

I'm usually a pretty private person, only sharing few things here and there of myself and family. I have been back and forth wondering whether I should even post this or not? I figured since I'm determined to change myself not only on the outside but on the inside too and for good...being more honest and open with myself and about myself will be therapeutic in the long run and hopefully make me a better blogger too.

Now back to the physical aspect of a "new" me...I was and am doing really good. I had a slight set back when my grandma passed away in March, which is still pretty hard for me and I'm still not all too comfortable talking about it. But, I've lost a total of 35lbs since January! I have much, much more to go...but I gotta start somewhere and to me that is a great start! I was planning on showing before and after pics to keep me motivated...but I have never really been comfortable taking pics and realized I don't really have "before" pics of me to share, lol. So I guess I will just have to start sharing the recent pics I actually do have of me.

As I mentioned, my grandma passed away recently and these next few pics are some taken when I went to Kansas to be with family and attend her wake. She didn't want us to be sad about her passing, cause she was never one to have people fuss over her. Instead she wanted us to celebrate her life and so we did!

I will start with my fav pic of my grandma and me!
This was taken in 2000...think I was 18? I do miss her so much! :)

This is all of us who were mom, aunts and even cousins...I'm in the back with the black and white of my aunts to the right was trying to photo bomb me with bunny ears, but instead managed to pull my hair out! lol

And here are my boys with their cousins they met for the first time!

You can tell that we were definitely not letting this day bring us down! Exactly the way my grandma would have wanted it! :)

This is me and my aunt Peggy, she traveled with me...she being the only family I have that still lives close here in Oregon. I couldn't have made the trip without her!

It snowed pretty heavily when we were there...we don't get much snow at all in Oregon, nothing that sticks anyways, so it was kinda nice. I grew up originally in Colorado, but hadn't been back since I was around 8, so the snow was great as long as we didn't have to drive in it...will get to that later lol!

The boys definitely had a ball, that's for sure!

And the day we left....This is my mom, with me and my boys...

We drove all the way there from Oregon to Kansas...not something I will ever do again having done it...very, very long trip with really bad weather included!
Here are some pics we took along the road...

We took pics all through Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming but only a few turned out...

Meet our little moose fella...this was taken when we were coming into Colorado and all this snow falling should have gave us a sign that there would be trouble ahead! Remember I mentioned driving in the snow?!

This was taken right before we went up the mountain on I-70 heading towards the Eisenhower Tunnel...yeah we never made it! We only found out later after a $270 tow off the mountain that they had closes the mountain 15 minutes after we already started heading up the darn thing and we got stuck in a snow blizzard!

They never turned the hazard light on fast enough to let us know, we may need chains before heading up!

This is the rental car we traveled in, a Hybrid Toyota was amazing on gas, but if you have to drive through any kind of hazardous weather, including rain, forget it! We learned the hard way obviously with our pocket books! And the tow only cost us $270, cause the tow truck driver was a nice guy and let me sign up with an emergency AAA road side service. But we also had to get a hotel room that night...and he didn't take us to the cheapest place, lol!

This was taken on the way back home in Limon, CO...they just couldn't help themselves lol!

We also got stuck right in the middle of a cattle drive in Wyoming on the way about scary!! We were all so frightened we were going to get trampled in the car that we all forgot to snap a pic until the very last cows and bulls (Yes bulls!, Big bulls!) were passing!

I know, I know you're saying enough pictures already! I probably would have shared more...but I think you were saved sadly by my laptops malfunctioning hard drive earlier this year...yes I lost LOADS of my pics. So devastating as you can imagine! I usually back everything up onto discs, but it just happened around a time that I hadn't done a back-up in awhile unfortunately. One good thing....right before that happened, I had backed up all my digi stamps!! So anyhoo...I'm done for now, I promise lol!

And now you're wondering...okay...where is the crafty side? Well I do have some projects in the works and actually have one completed already, as well as some new digi sentiments to share within the next few weeks!! I'm going to share them in separate posts though...for obvious reasons lol! So no worries...I have been back in the craft room!

Now that this long awaited post that has been on my mind to write for the last couple months is out of the way, I can't wait to start blogging again and share crafty inspiration with you all! It really does feel good to be able to inspire someone in their craft as well as be inspired myself and by that I mean....I'm definitely on my way and excited to visit all you again too!! I just hope I didn't scare all of you today with my very candid post and if I did, I'm sorry in advance and oops on me cause once I hit the publish button, I guess there's no turning back for me, lol!

Until next time,
Happy crafting to all!
